In my second solo show, I began to consider the linkages between the NGR series of graffiti, histories of racist graffiti in Estonia, and the figure of Ülo Kiple, the so-called founder of Estonian graffiti culture. Utilizing textual intervention, performance, and photography, I confronted predominant narratives that relegated Estonian racism to isolated incidents or moments. Instead, I reflected on the culture of racism that produced my own experiences within the country, Tallinn’s public space, and manifold freedoms of speech.
